Location and History of Choranche Cave
Choranche Cave is located in the Vercors Regional Park, in the Isère department (38). Nestled in the heart of the Choranche cirque at an altitude of 500 meters, you can admire exceptional views of the Presles cliffs and the Bourne Gorges upon your arrival.
Well-equipped and easily accessible, Choranche Cave can be visited with family.
Passionate guides adapt their talks to their visitors, whether they are adults or much younger.
The first explorations of the cave began in 1897, 20 years after its discovery. Since 1967, it has been open to the public thanks to 3 passionate speleologists, eager to share this site with as many people as possible.
Today, Choranche Cave still belongs to the same family, eager to enhance and protect this picturesque and fragile site.
The superbly lit interior of the cave allows you to discover fistulous stalactites specific to Choranche and proteus, curious and very fascinating legendary creatures.
