What is Cliousclat Pottery?
Drôme has several clay deposits used for pottery, and some villages, including Cliousclat, have exploited this resource since the 10th century.
The Cliousclat pottery is located in Cliousclat in Drôme Provençale, between Valence and Montélimar, near the N7.
The factory was built in 1902, and the entire site has been classified as a historical monument since 1997.
Since 2014, the Cliousclat pottery has belonged to the Cliousclat town hall.
It is a cooperative society of collective interest that manages the traditional production of glazed earthenware pottery. The operation is therefore participatory, with residents, elected officials, volunteers, and employees working to maintain this traditional activity.
